Trying to hook up a Sony DVD Player DVP SR 210P to an HDMI LG TV ... I have purchased an HDMI - Males to 3 RCA Video Audio AV

I am not tech savy ... senior adult female trying to figure out how to get my DVD player to work with my new LG TV ... it is a basic 24 inch LG TV ... the DVD player is from 2014 ... not that old ... but has the old analog hookups ... red, yellow and white ... I was told to purchase an HDMI - Male to 3 RCA Video Audio AV Cable 1080P for DVD HDTV which I did ... one end has the analog plugs the other end has HDMI plug for the HDMI port on the back of my TV ... I have two selections when I press Input on my TV Remote ... Cable or HDMI ... I selected HDMI ... but the screen shows a message that there is no signal ... So what steps am I missing to get this to work? ...

What are the exact models of your TV and DVD? It's not that common for TV to not have red-white-yellow RCA inputs.

You can't use a passive cable to convert the AV output of the DVD player (analog video audio) to HDMI (digital video audio).
You will need an active converter.

It won't cost much more to just get a player with HDMI output. It will look much much better than using the converter.
