Hey guys, looking to set up 5.1 from my new custom built PC and my 5.1 samsung surround sound system. I did this once before with my old PC, but now it wont seem to work on anything more than two frontal speakers. Can anyone help?
If it helps, Im running a toslink cable from my MSI 970 gaming mobo to the samsung reciever. I have gone into control panel, sound, enable optical, all that jazz, but im still only getting 2 frontal channels.
Thanks all.

I had a problem like this a bit back the only way I was able to solve it was just use a standard aux jack from the computer to the receiver and use the receiver to split the signals to the speakers.

Im only getting options of two channels when i try to set it ti dolby 5.1.

Its a home theater system i bought a year or two ago, A samsung blu ray player with a optical in port, which worked out perfectly. I had it working on my old computer with this same system, but now i cant get it.

try changing the settings on your receiver, other then that i cant think of any reason this wouldn't be working. you could also plug all your speakers into the right and left front channels but you may get worse sound quality if you do that.
