Hello. The internal screen on my 7 week old LG UHD TV suddenly cracked. We were watching the TV when it happened, nothing touched the screen at the time - the screen went completely black, no picture just sound. We switched it on and off a couple times then a spider web type crack appeared in the bottom corner and vertical lines appeared across the screen. Both LG and the retailer are washing their hands of us saying we caused the damage. Is there anything else that can cause this type of damage? I am certain nothing hit the screen and feeling sick to the stomach that I have just thrown $1000 down the drain for a no-good TV!

It seems like you are not alone

If you do a search for "screen cracked by itself LG TV" you will find some other links. The older ones are for plasma TVs so wouldn't apply to your new TV.
If you have home owners insurance it might cover it. Check with your agent.

It seems to be a pretty widespread problem. Surely we aren't all crazy enough to be using our expensive brand new TVs as target practice? Clearly the value of brand loyalty is lost on these companies. I have reported both LG and the retailer to the Consumer Commision and Office of Fair Trading here in Australia. It's probably a waste of time but I hope that if enough people complain then one day they may investigate. Looking into insurance but sadly we may be out of time. Thanks for responding!
