TV sound doesn't play through home theater system. What's wrong?

I have a Samsung TV and a Samsung Home Theater system. I want the sound from my TV to run through the HT.
* I do not have cable or satellite. The only things on the system are the TV and the HT.
* I have an HDMI cable connecting my TV to my HT in the second HDMI port.
* I have a Chromecast device in the first HDMI port.
* I have a Digital Audio Optical cable outputting from my TV and Inputting to my HT.

I had this working once a couple of years ago, so I know it's possible. The only difference between then and now is that I don't a cable line in the TV input.

Typically to accomplish this I would set the HT to something called "D-IN", but that doesn't seem to do the trick now. I'm fairly sure the issue is in a setting somewhere and not the hardware configuration, but I could be wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

They way you have it connected, it should be working. Is the sound coming from the TV speakers now? You may need to turn off the speakers in the TV options, and make sure the amp is set to the right input.
