Im trying to connect my monitor (no pc attached) to my TV via VGA cable. I connect the VGA cable to the computer and tv and my monitor input is set on VGA yet nothing appears

Are you trying to connect VGA from Monitor to computer and then connect VGA from TV to computer? What do you mean no pc attached? You must display something out. TV can not work as a computer and display out to the monitor.

I'm Trying to Use the Monitor as the tv screen so i can see the TV on the monitor aswell as the TV (why dont ask)
Basically i want so see what i see on tv on my monitor but no pc attached as in its just the monitor

you need a multimedia converter box that allows multi display output, this way you can connect your TV cable and monitor VGA cable and watch them at the same time. To it you would connect your cable box cable so it splits the signal.
