TV to Stereo

I am currently trying to connect a Element TV ELEFW408 to a Sony DVD Home Theatre System DAV-HDX275. I connected both using a Digital Optical Cable yet the sound still doesn't run through the speakers connected to the Home Theatre System. I can't find a option in the TV Settings to enable external speakers. The TV doesn't have a Coaxial Digital Cable input and the TV doesn't support ARC HDMI. Does anyone know the solution to my problem?

On some TVs you have to turn on the optical output and turn off the TV internal speakers.
You may also have to change the SPDIF audio output type on the TV.
