After son played xbox on my fifty inch pansonic tv it will not power on

Are you sure that the TV is really powered off and that your son did not just change the video input port (e.g., xbox vs cable box).

Is there a manual power button on the TV? If you are using a remote control try a new battery.

Plug in a lamp to the host outlet to make sure the outlet has power.

Check power cords and connections - make sure that all power cords are tightly plugged in. Likewise for all video cables (probably HDMI ports).

Any extension cords or power bars (outlet extenders)? Some power bars have a little red breaker button that may need to be reset.

Check the TV's User Guide/Manual for more troubleshooting options. You might have to reset the TV by pushing and holding some button while unplugging or plugging in the power cord.
