Two antennas connected to a TiVo

I'd like to receive HD transmissions from two broadcast stations located in different directions.
Can I use two antennas , each pointing to one station, and connect one to the antenna input and the other to the cable input, on a TiVo .
And, let TiVo scan both inputs for stations.
Will TiVo even be able to detect over the air stations on the cable input?

Or go old school and mount the antenna on a rotator.

Or if you're directly inbetween the two towers, grab a Yagi and take the reflector off the end. Voila, two-ended antenna.

can you explain why the cable input can't get OTA signals.
Do you know what the frequencies are?

Different standards, different frequencies, different encoding. All sorts of stuff.

A WiFi radio can't pick up OTA TV, and neither can a cable receiver.

Two antennas can be run through a combiner (opposite of a splitter) and then fed into the single input of the TiVo. There are some considerations on the types of antennas used and cable lengths etc. in order for the signal from one antenna to not simply be radiated back out the other antenna. There are even antennas sold that have multiple elements that can be pointed in different directions which would be a very safe solution to know that everything is matched and will work properly. Additionally depending on how distant the stations are you may be able to use an Omni directional antenna. So there are definite solutions to this issue. Then as long as the signal is being fed to the TiVo the tuners can sort out the needed frequencies.
