A more fair way to brag If you are approaching 22 points per CPU hour, you could make the list.

I'm on another team, but I do want to encourage all to participate.
I'm in the top 300 striving for the top 250 worldwide.

Im seriously worried about the size of your virtual penis. Does it really matter what ranking you are? Just crunch!

Despite the huge top speeds, amazing acceleration and incredible G-Forces of Top Fuel Dragsters, a standed riced up Lancer often has a larger rear wing.

This standard is fair as it does not require multiple PCs to rise on the list. One good PC and you are likely to make the list. Multiple PCs can affect your standing but not always positively.

>>Those PCs can't be single CPU... can they? <<

Sure can. It is total points/total CPU hours under your user name. This stat is based on however many PCs are active in your UD username.

UD software does NOT take advantage of multiple CPUs. In fact multiple CPU MBs cause all kinds of no fun since UD only uses one of the CPUs on those boards. See the SMP topics on the UD Member to Member Support forums.

So IF you only have one PC and it is say ... a P4 2.4 533 with
three sticks of 256 memory or more
10 gig available on your hard drive
and a broadband internet connection

it should make 30+ points per hour with a minor adjustment to your UD device profile to increase your allowed HD storage which it will never use, it would make this list in a matter of a few days. I imagine after the first result comes in .. if not just a few results would do it. That is why it is fair to the new guy who does not have to wait for results to pile up to gain something to take pride in. That stat is worldwide vs just team member vs team member.

Taken from the UD forum:
I installed VMware and set up a virtual machine using Windows 2000 Pro.

Windows 2000 Server divvys the processors between the two...

I found another thread too.:

Check the thread anyway. If that does not answer your question, post your question there. SMP is a term that I picked up. When it comes to multiple processors, I freely admit that "I know nothing."

Me neither... but I saw an interesting line in that thread: 'You can't tell when a result is corrupted' looks like you will notice it in your stats though.
But when I ran UD at a unstable OC'ed PC with a fresh new unit it restarted that unit over and over again every minute.

Schizophrenic thought for today:

Could you run UD on 1 CPU and SETI on the other?

Yes - if you know how to assign a CPU to a given task.

I know that one. 20 results in one day on a PC that in fact has a max production of 3 results a day. I got home and had to shut it down before it shaped up.
