Hi guys...

I have a big problem. I can't unlock my Athlon XP 1800+, or i don't know it is unlocked because I think the mobo is not able to handle it!
I have done it all, tried different conductive material but it did not work. Still stuck at 11.5. The last thing I did was gold-bonding. So, now I know for sure L1 is closed.
That only tells me it has to be the motherboard that don't want to have a unlocked Athlon...
The A7V266-E will not be reasond with, it is locked @ 11.5.

Anyone tried a unlocked XP on a ASUS A7V266-E? I have not seen anyone using a unlocked XP on a A7V266-E yet! Is it possible to use a unlocked XP with a A7V266-E?

I have no friends with other motherboards so I can't test my processor with another rig.

U think it is possible that the mobo is faulty?!? I have a friend and he is also unable to unlock XP 1800+ on his A7V266-E.

Please help. U got any good ideas?

Read <A HREF="http://www6.tomshardware.com/howto/01q4/011112/index.html" target="_new">this</A> carefully.
Beside super glue, some site also suggest using pen correction fluid.
As usual, do it at your own risk.

Well...

I have read it, a long time ago ;) The problem is not unlocking the XP, really... My question is: Is there anyone that have tried a unlocked XP on a A7V266-E?!? I think it doesn't let Athlon to be unlocked. It ignores the closing of L1 !!!

Are you sure you didn't accidently ground your bridges to the grid underneath? You really need that gap SEALED before you can put anything conductive over it!

Did you try the CPU on another board to make sure it was unlocked?

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Well, I am sure i did not ground the bridges... If you ground the bridges you will get a multiplier of 10 I think. I have tried that one to ;)
I have removed the gold-bonding and used solder and wire. Still there is no luck in unlocking my XP.

I have no other board to try it in :( So, I wan't to know if there is anybody who has done it with a A7V266-E.

I really appreciate the help. Any good ideas now?

I think my motherboard can't handle it at all... Why doesn't reviews try a unlocked XP? That would give me some answers...

Hey, maybe the board really isn't adjustable! Try the <A HREF="http://www.asusboards.com" target="_new">http://www.asusboards.com</A> forum.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
