Once again proof that sharing files does not infringe, or cause any negative affect on profits. To this day with corporate yelling the sky is falling has anyone proven that file sharing has any impact what so ever on any industry. I remember a few years back there was a panel discussion about music piracy and it's impact, and the poor example that was used was the No.1 downloaded Britney Spears, I say poor example because she netted over $50,000,000.00 dollars that very same year.

This is just a stunt by the movie industry to keep pushing prosecution and gain support of harsh and inconvenient encryption. That and to try to shut down P2P and whatnot. They want judges who are out of touch with normal society to think this is a huge problem and rule in their favor. I'm surprised they didn't make up a bigger number. Their number is like .05% of the world. Not even close to 1%. This, along with disease paranoia, and other issues that affect minuscule percentages of the population need to stop being made so serious.

[citation][nom]hixbot[/nom]Why anyone would want to watch an action film with unfinished special effects is beyond me. Are they hoping the acting and screenplay will entertain them?I waited, and saw it in theaters. It was terrible.[/citation]

I will be honest with you. When watching the work-copy I was hoping that they did a better job with the story line and characters than they did in the past. I didn't need the eye-candy to pass judgement on this film. It's a freaking X-Men movie...of course the special effects will be good. I wanted it to be worth the trouble (and money) of going into a theater to watch this thing. What I saw in the downloaded copy was not worth it. My cost = $0. Everyone else paid money to find out it was crap and left disappointed. I bet there were some mutterings in the crowd of people leaving asking themselves why they didn't just go ahead and download it.

Downloaded the movie and watched it, also went to the theater and watched it. I thought there would be more stuff in the finished version but surprisingly not. Make sure you stay until the credits are done rolling for an extra scene with Dead Pool. It shows his arm coming out of the ruble then grabbing his head, then his eyes open up.

from the workprint, not worth paying to see. EFX are not enough to make a movie worth paying to watch, at least, not in that genre of films...

i agree with those that question Fox's numbers and claims of damage by the pirates. while i am seeing more examples of soccer mom's learning the trade, their numbers are still small.

on another note, i don't understand the idea that watching a movie at a theater is somehow better than watching it at home with a reasonable home theater. Plasma and LCD monitors in the >42" range are affordable in 1080p class and even cheap upscalers do a decent job in comparison to the dim and washed and highly scarred film you'll see in a commercial theater. that brings me to those that claim pirated movies with visual flaws are some how inferior... every time a movie is played at a theater, it is physically damaged but the projectors and the inept handling by the minimum wage highskoolers manning the projection booth. if you don't think that's the case you've obvisouly never worked in a theater. maybe you don't notices the flaws cuz the screen is so huge in comparison to a home monitor.. but they are very much there. i guess some ppl just like to think they're getting perfection when it is far out of reach...

If he died he wouldn't be in X-MEN, X-MEN 2 or X-MEN 3

[citation][nom]bill gates is your daddy[/nom] I personally think they leaked it themselves to drum up interest in it.[/citation]

I never thought of that. How do the movies get out anyway? Isn't it their own fault for not having it securely in place and have no employees that swipe it?

42" is large but still pales in comparison to a movie theater screen size.

I think it's mostly the size of the screen that is the appeal of the theater.

I had a friend download it and make me a copy. I watched it and was extremely disappointed. The movie was all about special effects. The real story about Wolverine wasn't even there. They pieced several different story arcs together into what they thought would me a good story, it wasn't. Wolverine lost his memory when he was bonded, not from getting shot in the head. He wasn't bonded for revenge. They totally screwed it up. Thank goodness I didn't waste my money to go see this atrocity of a movie. But this is still 2 hours I will never get back.

and yes... these movies are a horrible perversion of the cartoon series of the early to mid 90's and of the comic books they're based on. even within the context of the story used for this and the original 3... there are very glaring and hard to understand inconsistencies in the storyline... horrible!

Knew about the torrent, but had no interest in downloading a workprint edition. Went to the theater and saw the film, thought it was ok. But will not buy the dvd.

I won't even rent the DVD when it comes out. Not worth the money. I wouldn't even ask for the DVD as a gift.

It seems like a lot of people are dissing this movie just because it seems like the cool thing to do. It was actually a pretty good film and actually left me more satisfied than any of the previous X-men movies.

For all the purists out there saying how this character or that was stuffed up, people have mentioned a heap of times already that not everything in a comic book can be lifted straight into a movie. Especially when you're trying to squeeze volumes of material into 100 minutes. Movies go beyond the core fans and need to bring in new ones. So with that in mind it did a damned good job.

I want to see the movie in theatres. The full length uncut "trailer" (as I like to call it... since it gave the movie TONS of publicity.) was EXCELLENT and I have encouraged all my friends to go see it.

Because of me, they got about 10+ more sales then they would have gotten otherwise since everyone I talked to seemed pretty skeptical first.

to this day, the best leak was on the matrix. 6 months before the movie hit theaters a copy with no soundtrack was leaked. it was awesome. you know the scene in the club where neo meets trinity, theres no music. everyone is dancing to nothing. you can hear their feet scraping the floor. fantastic.

and i went to the theater 6 months later.

one thing that isnt being accounted for here is that many people have nice home entertainment centers of their own. why would i go to a theater when i just dropped 4 large on a 60" flat screen. have to make up that cash somehow, seems only logical to take it out of the entertainment budget.

I usually pirate older movies on a regular basis, but I DEFINITELY passed on this *workprint*. There's really no point in seeing the unfinished product anyway. Stop being so thirsty fools and watch the real movie!!!!

"Then there's the argument that the your average theater-goer doesn’t know how to download movies from the web anyway."

Which is like saying the average theater-goer doesn't know how to use Google.

Which is like saying the average theater-goer doesn't have the internet

Which would then mean the average theater-goer wouldn't have seen the workprint copy

Which means that a lot of marketing people got their underwear in a twist

And what are the thieves reasoning for downloading this one. Always got an excuse only this time none of the usual ones are valid. Not that any of the usual ones are valid but at least they are a valiant attempting at spinning the truth.
