Hello,

I have recently purchase my H dv7t-6b00

It came with 750GB Sata 5400RPM. I am willing to upgrade it to Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB 7200RPM.

Can someone please tell me how can I do this?

Is it quite simple like I will just create backup disks & then install Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB 7200RPM or SSD in my DV7 & restore data on that SSD/Seagate Momentus XT 750 GB 7200RPM

Or should I go with some cloning software?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Best Regards

You will need
1.) http://www.easeus.com/product.htm free (preferrably the bootable CD)
2.) A USB cradle/disk to connect your new drive via usb/esata/firewire to your computer (usb works best in my opinion) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812232002 or similar (just picked this randomly)
3.) About 6-10 hours of time to a complete drive clone

Dowload the cd, burn to disk. Restart computer, boot from the cd. Attach the USB cradle/cable to the computer, do a complete OS clone (6-10 hours for bit by bit clone). When that is done powerdown the computer, remove the power cable and battery, remove old HDD and install the new HDD. No reinstalling needed.
