Upgrade Lenovo G50-70

Hello, I have just recently received a Lenovo G50-70 laptop as a gift. First day I had it, I took a stick of RAM from my old laptop and stuck it in and it worked and upped the RAM to a respectable 8 GB. I am looking to further upgrade my rig and I am wondering what would be the next step in doing so. The full specs are as follows: Processor
4th Generation Intel Core i5-4210U Processor (1.70GHz 1600MHz 3MB)
Operating system
Windows 8.1 64
Graphics
Intel® HD Graphics 4400
Memory
6.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz (8 now that I upgraded, Thanks internet tutorials!)
Hard Drive
500GB 5400RPM
I would like to be able to smooth out some of the play of popular games these days. It runs Skyrim on medium relatively well for the most part, but it does have its moments of lag. Any information is helpful! Thank you!

Other than upgrading to an SSD there's not much else you can do.

The CPU can't be upgraded and you can't add a GPU. You're stuck with what you got for the most part.

Yeah, the only thing you can upgrade is the HDD to a SSD. But that will not improve game performance, it only allows Windows and programs to load faster.

There are mods for Skyrim that can help improve performance such as lower texture quality and removing small objects from the game. You just need to search for the mods.

(apologies if i'm using this forum wrong, this is my first time i'm posting here )

I too have a Lenovo G50-70, but i have the 59425450 model with basically the same specs, except for 8 gig RAM by default, and as a graphics card the "AMD Radeon R5 M230"
I am not an expert on this area, but the website i got the details from says "losse chip" which roughly translates to "seperate chip" in dutch. This leads me to believe that this might not be a dedicated chip, and might therefore be upgraded.

could someone can confirm this for me please?
if this is correct, how can i find out which GPU chips would work in my system?
also i would like to know if there is a limit for a RAM upgrade and an SSD upgrade(i'm not very experienced sorry)

P.s. for some reason i could not access this page due to "malicious activity from your(my) computer". I did a virus scan but no malware was found. Is it possible that it was just a coincedental error?

I have the same exact laptop but if you want better gaming performance upgrade your ram to 12gb or 16gb because our graphics card is shared with our memory and i started off with 4gb ram then i upgraded to 12gb and got 1gb of video ram so i run skyrim on medium smoothly and lots of games just fine if you consider my offer heres a link for your laptops memory ive bought from here to get my memory and its simple but heres the link http/www.datamemorysystems.com/dms-memory/lenovo/g50-70.htm
