Upgrading Compaq 610 Ram

Hello,
I Have an old compaq 610 laptop which has
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.0 GHz, 800 MHz
1GB DDR2 800MHZ

and wondering if upgrading ram to 4GB with this Processor, would be any good with programming on netbeans and browsing, or it will be worthless.
