US TV in UK

Hi I have this TV http://store.sony.com/40-diag.-sony-led-ex640-internet-tv-zid27-KDL40EX640/cat-27-catid-EOL-Sony-HDTVs and I am going to the UK now. Will this work in the UK as a monitor hung on the wall? I would connect it via HDMI
I understand there are like power issues and stuff

There should be a sticker on the back listing the input voltage + freq. The site says only 120V 60Hz, but I expect that you'll find it's capable of 240V 50Hz to.

I called Sony apparently it won't work due to the power. Is there any way I can sort out that power?

Not really. A step-down transformer might work, but won't change the frequency.

Check what's printed on the compliance labels on the back of it, though. It's possible that the website/company says one thing but it can do more than they guarantee.
