Usb port not working saying no driver installed?

last week i plugged my ipod into my laptop just like i have done over 100 times to charge it, and it pops up saying usb device not recognized. then when i open the unknown device it says no drivers are installed.?
i have no idea what is happening... it just all of a sudden didnt work? HELP!!!!

This happened to me last summer. My 2nd Gen Nano 4GB just quit being recognized. Never did figure out why it happened. Is it recognized in disk mode? (For click wheel devices hold Menu and Select to restart, then when you see the logo hold Select and Play/Pause)

Go to device manager and check the USB ports in there. Maybe uninstall the USB then reboot the computer.
