Used Budget Laptop Help

Hello Tom'sHardware community!

I need some help with a budget of mine, I have $60 to find a decent used laptop on Ebay. Nothing super special, no gaming, just something for everyday internet browsing and some small image editing. Preferably long battery life without sacrificing performance. So far 5 laptops have come up on my radar with potential:

Lenovo Thinkpad T61
Lenovo Thinkpad R61
HP Compaq 6715b
Dell Latitude e5400
Dell Latitude e6400

If you have any suggestions for different laptops, let me know!

There will be no battery life for those systems for your price, unless you are lucky and they replaced the battery before selling the system. Any laptops this old would be lucky to last an hour on the battery.

From a speed point of view, the Dell e6400 may be the best.

I figured about as much for battery life. I think I may go with the Compaq because I have a friend who has one and has shown me it, and it looks pretty good.

Did you actually compare the specs on the systems or just going by what the case looks like? The COre 2 Duo in the e6400 is faster than the AMD Turion in the Compaq.

No, we did compare, and yes, the case also something I took into consideration. The Compaq has better cosmetic appeal than the e6400 to me. The Compaq is also at a lower price point, so I would be able to afford a new battery with the budget.

Up to you, they are all slower and cheap, and you are getting an even slower one. May not even be very good for HD streaming, especially with a low amount or RAM.

I'd spend $100 + and find a used first generation Core i5 system like a Lenovo T410, the rest are basically toys to give to kids at their age, especially if you don't replace the hard-drive with a new one. The older drives in those will be sloooowwww.
