Hola. I've looked a great deal on the net for an answer to this topic, but it seems most seem to be interested in how to hook 2.1 speakers together to get surround sound.
I have a Razer Tiamat 7.1 analog headset, and it allows me to switch to my desk speakers with the push of a button. My question is, if I leave my computer's audio settings on 7.1, and route the sound through my 2.1 set up (two desk speakers and a subwoofer), will that cause me to miss audio?
I've been experimenting with various sound tests on Youtube, and so far I haven't really noticed any difference when I bounce back and forth between 7.1 and 2.1 set ups while listening to the speakers, but I have no idea if that will remain true when gaming, or watching something. And, honestly, it makes me curious about the science of it all.
Any help/insight is appreciated.
