Using connector for usb headset to 3.5mm?

It won't work, the 3.5mm connector is used for analog signals while USB uses digital signals. There might be some use for that adapter but it won't work in your situation. It is likely used to interface a digital 3.5mm connection (I'm sure someone has created this) to a USB connection.

EDIT: Apparently some USB headsets work on the PS4's USB connections. Have you tried that?
