Solved! Using DELL OEM Disc on other Dells

Hello,
I've read about the fact that Dell OEM discs can be used on any Dell. However I've also heard there are generational gaps. Which makes sense.
So I have an old Inspiron 1150 that runs ok on XP will a DELL OEM Windows 7 Disc work? I have to believe the build in Key wouldn't work with A completely different version of Windows.

I wouldn't mind trying it, But if I installs and needs activation I don't want to have to re-do My XP install because of all my files and programs installed. BTW new hard drive so the secret Dell partion restore is out of the question I think...

Any thoughts on this?

I've used my Dell OEM OS disc on other units as long as they have a license key on the case.
I've never experienced any problems as long as it's the same OS.
But it won't work with a different OS.
