We are using the tri bnd Nokia Phones from Sprint. Has anyone any knowledge
if they would work in Vancouver BC>?

I was in Vancouver two weeks ago and my sprint phones worked fine. Digital
Roaming. No idea what the cost was to call in Canada or back to USA.
Didn't care-- needed phone and made calls.

My wife's SPCS phone digitally roamed in Vancouver last year. I think
it cost about 50 cents per minute.

It's always a good idea before traveling to make sure your phone has a
current PRL (Preferred Roaming List). Call *2, say "PRL update" and
tell the rep you'd like to have your phone "flagged for a PRL update
because you'll be traveling". The rep will explain what to do next,
which involves calling *2 back after the rep flags your account, and
then you hear a message saying to stay on the line for a minute while a
free update is downloaded to your phone. When I do it, I don't hang up
as soon as it says "the update is complete" but stay on the line another
few seconds until I hear the usual Sprint main menu.

You can check a Nokia 3585 or 3588 PRL version before and after the
update at this menu choice
Menu | Phone Details | SW Version
The latest PRL is 10025

While in Vancouver, you also have to make sure your phone is set to
ALLOW roaming!
Menu | Settings | Roaming | Automatic (not Sprint only!)

You used to be able to buy a $10 bucket of roaming minutes that covered
Canada. The buckets were slightly cheaper than the standard roaming charge.
I'm not sure if they still have it.

Got my bill the other day. $0.35 a minute roaming fee for all calls sent or
received in Vancouver.
