A VCD will play on my $89. Apex DVD player,
& on a friends HP laptop w/ Win ME & DVD ROM
& on another friends Desktop w/ Win 98 & CD RW using the players that came with his ATI video card or his Sound Blaster Live.

It will not play on my Desktop w/ Win 98 SE & CD RW. Windows Media Player ( ver 7.1 ) does not recognize it.
I've downloaded several players from ZDNet but none recoginze the VCD.

????? Suggestions????

Remeber that a VCD is made up of the MPEG1 file, and then 'cushioned' by all the format requirements (menu systems etc etc etc).
Using Media player, try to search through the disc for the MPEG1 file (it'll be the largest thing there) and play it directly.
If it works, then the problem lies with not recognising VCD format.
If it didnt work, you've got other problems....
