Verizon mobile number inactive

So my new phone can take calls but not make them. When I try to make a call I get a message saying it may be inactive. What the heck?
It's an HTC Droid Incredible 2 if that makes any difference.

i'd go to the verizon store you got it from and ask them what is going on.
