I use to have a 3g. They are ok, but sooner or later you realise that theres only about a dozen app in the appstore that you will ever use for more than a few days And those are all available on all platforms. I bought an iphone because they had the best apps, when i realized what a moot point that was I sold it. I will buy a wp7 or a android phone as I do not want to support a company like apple.

The iphone4 has an A4 processor like the ipad. Its a 1ghz cpu.

So does your computer have a 412Mhz CPU and 128mb of ram? I guess I understand why you like the iphone. As a ex-3g owner, I firmly believe that games on the iphone suck. Especially the ones you mentionned! All EA titles are complete crap that you play for 2hours and then dump....and all for 10$.

And for the record I do own an iPhone 3G, my first Apple purchase ever. I bought it over 2 years ago when the only phone that could even attempt to compete with it was the HTC Tilt. Not the Tilt2, that still can barely compete with the iPhone 3G, the original POS Tilt. Also, those that complain the iPhone is over priced, the 8GB iPhone($199) I bought was cheaper than the Tilt($299). It wasn't until I actually bought the iPhone though, that I could see how absolutely hypocritical the iPhone haters are. At least now there is some serious competition for the iPhone. I was considering a possible switch, but the Evo4G isnt good enough to get me away from the iPhone. Sprint and Verizon SUCK in my area and ATT is the only carrier that can give me rock solid service at work, home and everywhere else I go. Also that and the fact that my job has a contract with ATT and I get a heavy discount is going to lead me to get the iPhone4 shortly after it comes out. But please, dont let any of those perfectly valid reasons stop you from bashing me as a mindless Steve Jobs drone blindly buying into the BS.[/citation]It's good to see higher intelligence floating around these forums.

While I am really on your side here (even plus 1'd you lol) "Could care less", though an often misunderstood phrase is intended to be sarcastic. What one who uses it is implying is “As if there was something in the world that I care less about”.
I myself prefer "couldn't care less" as well, but anyways, just food for thought.

If you clocked an iphone's processor to an identical clock speed to the one in the droid, you could compare different tasks and look at them side by side. Percentile-wise it is a 33.3% increase (or a 25% decrease, whichever), however those are both relatively small changes in clock speed.

I was expecting more, its not that much better than the original droid. The only thing I envy is the 8gb onboard storage, everything else I can get by rooting my droid. Currently at 1.2 GHz and running Froyo :-D

This droid sucks. Now on to the iphone. I used to buy apple mp3 players. Never liked the drm or itunes. Then I bought a 1st gen touch and jailbroke it. Wow was I pleased. Until they wanted me to pay money to turn the bluetooth that came with phone on. So I sold it. Now I see alot of the little nickel and dime stuff from apple after you pay to play. Newest iphone is cool, but 5bucks for a program that should come with it, just another slap in the face.
I dont really hate the no porn on it. What I really hate is being an adult and having Steve Jobs tell me I cant have porn on it. Thats the kicker. So I have an android phone.

Ummm, might wanna check out the voice dialer built in. I have it on my Droid, with a shortcut right on the main screen, never used it though.

Now, if Motorola, HTC, Samsung, Sony, or any other manufacturer were to make the device you have described, the same army of rabidly stupid aplle fanbois would still be chanting osxier's 1st post in this thread. If you hate motoblur, root yer phone I am REALLY happy with vanilla Android inteface though, I get your point 100%. Looks a lot like Gnome.

To all those folk crying foul of the 750 MHz OMAP CPU VS 1 GHz Snapdragon, this is a question of "Do you want an FX-57 at 2.8 GHz, or a P4 at 3.8 GHz"? We would all (hopefully) choose the FX-57 despite lacking an entire GHz.

Meh. This is a solid incremental improvement. The OMAP 3630 at 750MHz, is actually pretty decent compared to the 1GHz snapdragons out there. Its more efficient, so the CPU is about as fast, and apparently the GPU might be improved a bit as well, compared to the 3430:

Recently Anandtech put up an article that suggested that the Droid should have used a keyboard almost exactly like what they are implementing in the Droid 2. Nicely done there.

*shrugs* If they've improved the camera's software a bit, this would be a superior device to the HTC Incredible... The Droid X, which is basically an EVO competitor, will have a high res 4.3 inch screen, 8MP Camera with 720P video, a front facing camera, and HDMI out. Between the 2 devices, Moto should be competitive until what's going to be a much more interesting Christmas season...
