What is the best way to get a small libriary if VHS tapes (History channel type of stuff) onto DVDs using a burner on a computer? In terms of video capture, exactly what is needed?

YOu will need to convert the analog files to digital. That will require a convertor. If you own a DV camera, many of them can be used as convertors. If not you will have to purchase one. ONce you have done the conversion, you will have to edit and then compress your digitized video to MPEG2. Then you will be ready for DVD creation.

The process is really simple, if you have the equipement.

You could use a capture card and just connect it up to your VCR, bare in mind that you need a FAST computer to caputure MPEG2 on the fly. My 2.4Ghz P4 with 1gig of RAM couldnt do it with out frames getting dropped or the sound going out of sync.
