I am looking for a Video Capture PCI card that has hardware encoding capability built in... so... all the encoding work is handle by the card and not by the CPU...hence giving me the ability to uuse a slower computer such as my Pentium 4 1.4 gigs.

DO you know some brands you guys can recomend?

I was also thinking about the hard drive...mine is a 7200 RPM with 2 MB buffering and 40 gigs. I understand that using 2 hard drives in SATA RAID configurations gives you faster transfer rates. Is that correct?

The main purpose for my purchase will be capturing analog VHS tapes and burnning them into DVD's.

Thanks

I have used Aver media, Pinnacle Systems and Hauppauge products. They all work well.

Aver <A HREF="http://www.aver.com/products/dvm.shtml" target="_new">http://www.aver.com/products/dvm.shtml</A>

Pinnacle <A HREF="http://www.pinnaclesys.com/" target="_new">http://www.pinnaclesys.com/</A>

Hauppauge <A HREF="http://www.hauppauge.com/" target="_new">http://www.hauppauge.com/</A>

Some of the cards include a TV tuner if you want to watch TV and do PVR functions.
