video editing software

i just bought a camcorder. can someone recommend good video editing software? id like to edit my "movies" and add effects on my computer.

Most video editing softwares are expensive. But if you don't have money, Microsoft's WIndows Movie maker 2 is quite good. Unlike the first version.
