Viewing BD quality on laptop

[Novice_here]

As my name suggests, I know close to nothing about laptops. However my problem is watching downloaded videos on my laptop. Due to the convenience and higher resolution, I decided to download the content I watch, some are BD rips, so the quality is obviously high, however I find that the video doesn't play properly. I'm not sure if my laptop is capable of viewing in HD, so if someone can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

BD rips? Pirated movies no doubt. No help for you here mate.
Get legal and buy movies on DVD or BD, or watch through subscription service.
