So I clicked on some fishy website that popped up during a Google search, and it generated one of those "your PC is infected--click here to scan now!" pop-ups. I closed down all my browser windows quickly, and then ran a Microsoft Security Essentials full virus scan on my PC. Nothing was found.

I then re-imaged my C: drive using ShadowProtect (a disk imaging tool like Norton Ghost), and ran another virus scan. I also changed the master password on my password storage program.

Would you say that is enough? Did I go overboard?

Thanks!

I think you went totally overboard! I think you just got a new browser window with HTML content with the message you saw. :)

Well done for responding to the potential threat though. Consider this good experience rather than a mistake!

Like jbakerlent mentioned, I'd add MalwareBytes to your security toolkit. It's just a manual security tool so it won't interfere with MSE.
