I get a message on my Visible R2 phone that says my os is corrupted. I get this message everytime that I boot the phone. I ran Kaspersky on it and it found a ransomware Trojan on it but it did not quarantine the file that has it SDM.apk. I see where it is in the system folder using SD maid . How do I remove it or do I need to reload the stock ROM? If so where should I go to find t?

If your device is rooted, then you are going to have to try wiping it and reinstalling the OS. That I can't help with. I am not a fan of rooting.

However, if it isn't rooted, or if you are willing to unroot it, then you should be able to do a "Hard Reset" to resolve the problem.

NOTE: Doing this will clear 'all' the data on your phone, so it is suggested you not choose this option unless you have to, or aren't worried about losing anything on the device.

Be sure you back up any data you want to keep, to a computer or cloud account, before doing the reset.

To "Hard Reset" the phone...

1. Make sure that the phone is actually powered off.

2. Remove your SD card, if there is one in the device.

3. Press the "Power" and the "Volume Up" buttons, together, until you see the start-up logo on the screen.

4. Once you can see the logo, release the buttons and allow the device to enter the "System Recovery Mode".

5. Next use "Volume Down" button to get to the "wipe data/factory reset" option.

6. When in recovery mode the "Volume Up" and "Volume Down" buttons are how to can navigate and highlight what option you need.

7. Once you have selected the "wipe data/factory reset", press the "Power" button to select that option.

8. On the following screen, repeatedly press the "Volume Down" button until the "Yes - delete all user data" option is what is selected.

9. Then press the "Power" button to hard reset the phone.

10. If you took your SD card out in step 2, when the device is up and running again, reinsert the SD card.

I have now done a data reset 4 times and the screen keeps popping up. The phone still works as a phone and as a hotspot with my contact information still intact.

When I reset it again it asked for a restore from my Google account. Most apps have to be reinstalled and Google settings have to be reset. I know that I tried to put it in safe mode and that doesn't work. Is there a reason that I cannot remove the sdm.apk file?

Sounds a lot like that device has been rooted. If that is the case, then as I stated before, it would need to be unrooted first.

A "Hard Reset" of a normal device would remove problem files.

If, it wasn't rooted, then you need to have the device looked at to have the issue resolved.

NOTE: If you are reinstalling the app that added the file originally, then you will keep getting the file.
