I have the Vive headset and i find that with the cable on the ground, it's a trip waiting to happen. I apologize for my bad illustration, but here is what I have in mind.

I was thinking that I could have the cable hung from the center of my VR room. (Sorry for the typo, I meant claw, not clay) Anyway, I just wanted to know if there was anything wrong with my idea not to trip on cables. I'm clumsy :)

Hello,

Vive is using DisplayPort right?

If so, then you have to keep the cable length shorter than 3m, i.e pointless buying a DP cable if a longer than that exists, unless it's fibre optic.

If you're going to work with HDMI, then 15m is the limit, 5x more than the DP, but at the cost of lower bandwidth.

All the best!

I'm not worried about cable length, I just want to know if my logistics work out, if its dangerous or worse to have the cables above my head. But thanks for trying to help.
