Voom cabling

I just ordered Voom. I need to know how many RG-6 lines to run to my TV
location. I seem to remember some satellite systems using 2 lines, how
about voom? I assume I need another line for the OTA antenna? Voom can't
tell me who my installer is yet or I would ask him.

ANY tips appreciated!

Imagine this newsgroup in a couple years, good lord it will be crowded with
basic questions like this! Glad I am getting it out of the way now.

Thanks,

you want to have zero cables in your house for voom. After dealing with their
customer service you might use one to hang yourself. Their service is horrible.
End higher ticket prices! Go to local college games!

I have had nothing but a great experience with VOOM. Dish Network on the
other hand I cannot say enough bad things about.

For your question... My installer ran all the cabling for me so I didn't
have to do anything. I have one coax coming in form outside to the Sat.
Receiver and then my DVI out of that to my TV.

HTH,

Duke

The nice thing is they have no contract, so if I hate it, I will cancel!
Its hard to go wrong with all the HD service they offer.

Do you have the local OTA antenna installed? If so, does it somehow use the
same cable the dish uses?

Thanks,

Hi Dan,

No, I'm not using the OTA with VOOM, but if they are anything like Dish they
will just use the one coax and then connect to a diplexer which then splits
off for your OTA and your Sat. Again, this is just a guess based on what
Dish does.

HTH,

Duke

Yep, I was just contacted by my installer to reschedule the install a week
SOONER than I planned. He said 1 cable is all I need, they use a diplexer
just like you said. Voom says I can't run the cable myself, only a
certified tech can run the cable (however I don't think he'll mind if a
cable is already in the wall!).

Thanks!
