I have directv and the E86 reciever. I have a vhf antenna, which came with the
house I bought, so i don't know exactly what it does. I mean I know it gives me
my local channels and I believe. not sure, some hdtv channels. Below this large
antenna, the previous owner added a plain uhf antenna with separate cable. I
disconnected the cable and lost my chnl PBS 13-1, 31-1 and 50-1. I still have
the others...CBS 2-1, NBC and ABC, FOX, so I'm guessing I'm getting those from
that large antenna, which in turn it must be a combo job. That being said, why
then can't I get my PBS 13-1, 31-1, and 50-1 from that combo? And why am I
limited to those 3 on the uhf antenna. Live near the empire state building
about 20 miles away.

PBS has been having [understandable] troubles in this area since 9/11.
They've been off the air for awhile, or on very low power.

That said, have you tried the N.Y.C. section of the "Local HDTV info..."
forum at AVS forum?
You'll see any updates about New Jersey's PBS HD transmitters there for
sure.

I may be inclined to agree with you, but I was getting excellent reception only
a few months ago...way after 9/11. I d/l a map from one of the hd web pages of
how to aim ones antenna to get certainly channels via ones address. For PBS, it
was pointed north toward the empire state building and yet I heard that Chnl
13, was being transmitted from Newark, way over to a 15degree angle. i would
check that forum and thanks:)
