Hi all,

I would like to know what would be the best way to connect Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 and Wharfedale Powercube SPC-10 to my PC.

I have a Asus Hero VII motherboard, with 5.1 but I am not sure if I would need a amp. I have seen so many tutorials online about just using RCA to 3.5 and putting them in to PC to sub ect. And then others saying I need a amp it is quite confusing.

Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 SPECS - http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/product.php?pid=49
Wharfedale Powercube SPC-10 SPECS - http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/product.php?pid=40

If anyone could guide me what would be the best option to connect speakers plus sub and what I would need that would be excellent thanks in advanced.

That amp will push those speakers just fine, maybe not to high levels but you'll get about 8 watts per channel out of it. That means the speakers will play up to ~95dB each which is plenty loud, especially if this is for nearfield use. Even if it's for whole room listening, most people only play in the 65-80dB range, meaning you'd be using well under one watt of power.

Regardless, my recommendation would be for an AVR because you get better control over bass management and adjustments. (And yes, you need an amp for the speakers OP)

Thank you for the info, I have a Dennon 1912 AVR but one of the channels has blew and it is expensive to get repaired I would be better buying a new AVR.

I was hoping for a more PC friendly option then using a large AVR but looks like it will still be the best option.
