what apps or files should i be suspicious of or keep an eye out for on my Galaxy S2?

I'm not even close to being what you might call, "technologically savvy", honestly, and with some embarassment, don't know squat! I've heard so much lately about Spyware, Malware, etc, lately that I'm trying to get a rough idea of what i should kind of keep an eye out, or look for, with my apps, files, and anything else that I may not even be sure to check, that might be suspicious or no doubt something bad on my Galaxy SII thru Boost. Hoping someone can help in terms I can grasp. Not stupid, just green when it comes to this type of thing...thank you! :)

Not quite the same thing ... but Android version 4.4 updates location features and settings. Applications appear to be inconsistent in their use of location icons in the notification bar. It may be that the notification icons can't always be relied on. My research and experiments with location settings and notifications.
