What causes this neon purple distortion (not just purple tint)?

This camera is a bang-around Fujifilm AX560. Whenever bright light is in the image anything the light reflects off turns purple. Not just a slight purple tint, but full on purple. For instance, when looking out a window on a sunny day, the display on the camera shows the outside world as barney colored purple. You can still see objects but they are all bright purple. If I take a picture of something close up using flash, I get this purple effect as seen below, which transfers to the end images. Is this a bad sensor? If I back it up away from objects, the pictures are fine.

Though taking pictures outside, the images are not clear. It is a very odd distorted effect. What is the answer?

You don't have any effects turned on do you? This looks something like the solarize effect. If no effects are turned on then it probably needs to be serviced or replaced.

If not a sensor, what could to this. If there isn't a bright light around, the images appear fine.
