I'm looking at Dell XPS 13's and I'm unsure of what chip to get. What effect does CPU power have on my choice. I'm going be using this laptop for some 3D rendering. What chip should I get? Which suffix is right for me (U, H etc.. (Intel))? Cost does matter. Thank you!

Solution
You'd probably want something with 4 cores minimum. Preferably 6, but those can be a bit pricey.

Exclude 7000 series U-chip by default. The i5-8250u on up are pretty good bang for the buck (4C/8T). I7-8700HQ is the highest-powered (reasonably affordable) one you'll find.

Problem with the xps 13 is the thermal throttleing of the cpu and the lack of a dedicated gpu which will massively decrease the rendertimes. You are looking at a bit of a too small formfactor to really get what you want.
