Solved! What is a protected memory card

When I turn on my camera it has !Protected Memory Card. What is this and how do I remove it to continue using the camera with the same memory card?

That usually means than the little switch on the edge of the memory card is in the 'protected' position. Just use a finger nail to slide the switch to un-protect it. In protected mode, any information stored on the card cannot normally be amended, removed or added to.
