What is coming out of my TV screen?

Hello all.

I was hoping someone in here could answer my question. For the last few months some kind of material has been coming out of my LED TV screen (I've got pictures). At first sight it looks like some sort of elastic band, but it doesn't stretch at all. It started out being very small but every week it seems to be getting bigger and more of it keep coming out. My warranty has expired so I'm hoping I can fix it. I was tempted to cut it off but I'm afraid it might destroy my TV or something.

Anyway, I know I'm not making any sense so I've got a few pictures which can give you an idea of what it looks like.

Jeez sounds spooky! Looks like either the screen or the Electronic boards in the back are on their way out.
You need someone who can repair it or buy another.

Is it a rubber seal that was around the glass?

I was going to ask if it was an LCD screen instead of LED as that would explain the 'stuff' being liquid crystal.

andy_Man it seems to be coming from inside. If I try pulling on the edges I can tell it's not stuck on the glass itself but rather coming out from the borders. Interestingly if I try to pull it it won't come out more, it just happens whenever it feels like it.

RobWHS I just double checked, it is a LED screen. Not sure how I'd describe the material coming out, feels soft, stretches ever so slightly but it's nothing like rubber or elastic.

I'd stop using the TV mate as whatever is coming out of it may well be toxic.
