Good evening/morning! Does anyone know what brand does sager use in NP8278-S (12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 3 X 4GB)? They use good ram don't they? I don't know much about brands but I guess Korsair, Kingston and Crucial are pretty much the best ones are there any others to consider?

Your speed will get two bumps - the first by giving your CPU access to 12GB through three dimms rather than 8GB through a single dimm, and the second by giving it access to more total RAM. I'm sure the RAM you're getting will be fine for gaming, but not radically better than the default RAM, nor radically worse than replacing it with Corsair or Kingston RAM with lower latency. Most games are not very dependent on system RAM - they make more use of your GPU's VRAM. 8GB is plenty of RAM for most gamers. Where you're likely to see a big difference is in other applications like photo editing that are RAM hogs.

If it's the default RAM, it's most likely the Samsung M471B5173QH0-YK0 - don't you love the catchy name? I've pasted a benchmark below. It's not the best, but it's not horrible either.

Description:
M471B5173QH0-YK0 DCI 4GB 204p PC3-12800 CL11 8c 512x8 DDR3-1600 1Rx8 1.35V SODIMM RFB, Samsung

I have the same in my new NP7338 - best bet for upgrade is going to be Corsair or Kingston 1600 CAS 9, whichever is cheaper.

well, It comes with 8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 1 X 8GB ** and I upgraded to 12GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz - 3 X 4GB [+$45.00] ** do you think the RAM I'm getting will be good enough for gaming?
