What receiver should I get?

So i'm completely clueless about this kind of a stuff. But basically I want to get better sound from my Tv when playing games and etc. I was thinking about buying two smaller speakers one on each side of the sofa (maybe something like the Onkyo SKH-410) and a bigger one in front of the tv. But I don't know if these are the right kind of speakers, Do I need a reciver and what kind? And is subwoofer a must?

The speakers you link to are only meant to be used for Atmos surround sound so you can't use those particular ones. Very limited range of sound.
If you get satellite speakers (similar in size to those) they are meant to be used with a subwoofer and would not work properly without one.
If you got bookshelf speakers you could get away without a sub but may want to add one later.
If you get two passive speakers you will need at an integrated amplifier or stereo receiver with the correct input for connection to the TV (usually optical).
If you want to use a center channel speaker you would need an AV receiver. You could add surround speakers later. The three front speakers should be voiced to work together so you want the center that goes with the left and right front speakers. An AV receiver could be used with two speakers to start.
