what video card dos the blu-ray player and the roku have

i wont to know why i need a 256mb video card to play a blu-ray disc on my PC when a blu-ray player is very small now. i have a gtx 550 Ti i know that can play anything, but why is the roku so small and it can do HD 1080p movies?

the gtx550ti is a 1gb card.... why are you complaining about needing 256mb?

you should be able to play bluerays perfectly fine even without a video card. integrated on cpu works perfectly fine. they fixed the whole issue back when nvidia was still providing on motherboard IGP solutions in 2009ish.

the roku and blueray players can do it because they have similar graphics processing either on chip or on the board.

so they can make a chip that small and what is integrated GPU and i am not complaining. i know i could have left out >i wont to know why i need a 256mb video card and i have a gtx 550 Ti i know that can play anything,< but wow that is so small and work in HD 1080

in current generation systems integrated means that the cpu is able to handle graphics operations. in the past it meant that there was a graphics chip on board the motherboard

you dont need to use a 256mb card if you already have a 550ti as you already surpassed this limit. they list 256mb since that is likely the amount of ram required by a gpu to render 1080p video properly on pc. keep in mind that playback on pc may not be as optimized as it is on other devices.

just streaming hd 1080p is not hard. look at current generation smartphones. they are much smaller than a roku box and a hundred times smaller than a pc and yet they can handle 1080p video.

chips get smaller and more powerful with every year. in a few years i wouldnt be suprised if they could produce a wristwatch which can handle 1080p.

so i think they can but if they make it too small it will be too hard to see

i looked it up on Wikipedia so integrated GPUs are using the systems RAM. i thought that the CPU had the RAM in it.

they use both.

it uses the cpu cache and system memory. since it uses your system memory (instead of onboard like a video card would have) having very fast ram improves the performance of an integrated graphics system.

for instance if you take a gaming system with 1600mhz ram and throw 1866 in it.. you might not notice a huge difference however if you throw the same in an integrated rig the difference is a bit more pronounced. while it still would fall very short of the performance of an actual graphics card its going to be better than using low speed ram.
