What works best for video editing, processor wise?

Looking for a laptop for editing videos to upload to YouTube what would you recommend as in brand, processor and RAM. It also needs to be used for school. Has to be able to connect to broadband wifi as well. It's for my 13year old son. He's not a gamer either.

Need to know budget and size of system you are looking for. "best for video editing" would be something like a $1,000 + workstation class system or a gaming system with a quad core or better CPU.

I'm not spending no where near $1000. It's for my teenage son and he's not very responsible when it comes to taking care of this things. He already has a YouTube channel & uses his phone. He just can't get the GoPro on his phone so needs a computer for that. Now what are your suggestions? Is there something less than 500?

Well that is why you need to list a budget, just asking for "best" for something that is what you will get.
