What size company or home office?

I can tell you HP Openview if you have a few hundred thousands of dollars.. or for a few thousand dollars you can use Solarwinds..

Or you can use a free tool that you can find by using 'google' and typing "system performance monitoring" and "network performance monitoring"

or you could use the performance log feature in windows Xp which will do most things for SOHO networks.

What are you trying to do exactly? Monitor nodes, servers, routers, switches, or firewalls over a multiple locates or just a LAN?

HP software is very expensive you can also look at Netview if you are willing to spend the cash. There is also free GPL alternatives through Unix.

Say your a network admin you wuld monitor performance on everything right? If you find sumfin is lagging u wuld need to find that problem n optimise it as well. So a software that does 2 features in 1 software.

Go to google, type "Shareware network monitoring" and you'll find a list.

Check this link out too:
