Question Whatsapp Voice Call Audio Issue

Hello, I have ONN Groove Earbuds w/ a built in microphone. It works great when I listen to Youtube videos on Android. The sound quality is crisp and clear. But when I am on an audio call on Whatsapp, the other person sounds extremely quiet and they can barely hear me. The other person's voice comes from my phone's speaker instead of through the earbuds. I have tried this on other phones as well and get the same result, the other person can't hear me, even though I've tried turning Bluetooth on. Is this a microphone glitch?
