Where do i find matshita dvd-ram uj890as replacement parts

My son has an emachines e528 laptop. He keeps it in very good condition. Recently he lost the black cover plate of his optical drive. I've been trying to find out if I can find a replacement part. Anyone have any direction?

Providing that a new drive costs $40 or so, I doubt Panasonic / Matshita have any spare parts for this drive - it's considered consumable, and no one would spend time repairing it.

You can go to some computer recycler and try to find replacement drive. I suppose these drives are not being put on eMachines only.

Thanks for the response. You're right, this drive is used in lots of machines, I'm finding.

I learned that drives are over $70 plus shipping and used / refurbished is in the $18 - $45 range plus shipping. Rather cheap I suppose but it's more than I have to throw at this.

Drilling down on it - I found a supplier on ebay who claims to have bezel faceplates for these. They're $7.00 with shipping.

We'll see if it arrives and if it fits.
