Buying a new budget laptop soon and I've been doing lots of looking on le web. I've narrowed my search down to the following 2 laptops (unless of course you know a better one for the same price):

A) http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_556_1222560.html

B) http://www.ebuyer.com/351622-asus-x53z-laptop-x53z-sx066v

They both have 4gb ram, the acer aspire has a bigger hard drive and by the looks of it also has a slightly better cpu than the asus (a6-3400 vs a6-3420). Also the acer is cheaper, however I'm not sure about the graphics card because all that it mentions on the acer is "Integrated (Graphics Supporting 224MB)" whereas the asus has AMD Radeon HD 6520G Built-in. Isn't the amd a6 an apu and therefore has an amd radeon 6520 (or something) built in no matter what system its in. Sorry I just want you to confirm or correct me please

Regardless of the fact that it doesn't mention it? I just found it weird that anywhere i looked even on the same website the asus is on you can find that acer laptop and it still doesn't mention any graphics card. But thanks :)

Hard choice imo. About acers track record; Isn't that only due to the fact that they produce an awful lot more than asus and so it makes sense as to why there record wouldn't be as clean as asus. I don't know really, I only go by information of what other people has said and I never really have any proof of whats truth and whats broscience

I wondered, is this a massive step up from the two laptops i listed in the OP
http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5560G_1190651.html
with the dedicated amd radeon hd 7670 gpu (aswell as the built in amd radeon 6520 thats part of the apu). I'm not sure how these dual gpus work, is that the thing with the crossfire? would this be worth the extra money if I kept this laptop for years to come? so much information so little time

I would recommend Asus too. It's Taiwanese brand but they have real decent range of product.
I used their mini net-book for 3 years and it was okay.

I did a lot of research before purchasing my new laptop with AMD A6-3400M. Theoretically the A6-3420M should be fast, but everywhere i looked it show that the A6-3400M is significantly faster. So to be on the safe side i got the A6-3400M, i think its worth the risk to take the historical 28% speed difference over the 7% theoretical benefit. Remember there are many other component that can contribute the performance difference than other than the CPU.

See link below.
