My friend would like to get a laptop and has narrowed it down to two.

Which of those should he go with? Also, if you guys can give another suggestion it would be appreciated. Looks like his budget is around $1500. He'll primarily use it for watching movies/videos, schoolwork, downloading movies, etc. I don't think he will use it for gaming at all.
