Would either of them work or would 1 be better than the other or are they both bad haha I was told to stay away from intel so any suggestions would be much appreciated?

Solution
Neither are particularly good. Both of those laptops have less processing performance compared to a modern Core i3 CPU. Additionally, the integrated graphic cores in the A8-7410 and A6-9220 APUs are less powerful than the Intel HD 4000 graphics core which are in 3rd generation Intel Core series CPUs from 2012.

I recommend you buy one of the following 14" Lenovo or 14" HP laptop for £400. Both have a 6th generation Core i3-6006u CPU with the Intel HD 520 integrated graphics core. The Lenovo has a 1TB hard drive + DVD drive, the HP has a 2TB hard drive.

Is the Intel HD 520 graphics core great for games? Not really, but it is definitely better than what the AMD APUs has to offer.

Thanks so much! so basically ill be wanting to get an intel i3 core with whatever laptop as my best option?

Pretty much. Each generation of Intel CPUs will have a slightly more power powerful integrated graphics core. Assuming £400 is your max budget, the best you can get is 6th generation Core i3-6006u CPU with the Intel HD 520 graphics core. The i3-7100u is a 7th gen CPU with the more powerful Intel HD 620, but you need to spend more money to buy a laptop with that CPU.

Okay that all makes sense thank you! The last question i have is would the i5 processor be any better as my budget is £450 and found this laptop with Intel Core i5-6200U which i presume means 6th generation as well?

Sorry im crap with computer stats if you cant tell but i really appreciate your help mate!

For £30 more I would go with the i5-6200u which is still a 6th gen Intel CPU. The higher clockspeed can definitely help with CPU intensive programs / games.

I have an older laptop with a 4th gen Core i5-4200u and Intel HD 4400 which I used to test out a few games. Mass Effect 3 worked fine (so ME1 and ME2 should as well). Skyrim (not the Special Edition version) is playable with tweaks to the SkyrimPref.ini file to lower graphic settings that cannot be done through the game's graphic options. Star Trek Online is playable, but the "Lighting 2.0" option should be disabled for better performance.

Lastly, Fallout 3 is playable and by extension so should Fallout: New Vegas which uses the same graphics engine. Oblivion is also playable since the Fallout games use the game engine originally designed for Oblivion. However, the game engine does not recognize Intel HD graphic cores so you would need to install a file in the following link to play those games. I did not enjoy Oblivion as much as Morrowind (it's predecessor) or Skyrim (it sequel). While Morrowind is a pretty old game from 2002, it does not run very well with Intel HD graphic cores; the more recent Skyrim run much better
