Which Laptop Should I Buy? ASUS or Toshiba?

Sorry if this thread post is long but please no bias between Intel and AMD Processors and stuff. This would probaly be the last time I will purchase a laptop so I want this to be good and get my moneys worth out of it. Thanks!

They're probably going to run about the same but the AMD has more cores, a better integrated GPU, and a nicer screen so I'd lean towards that one (and my Toshiba has been a tank for the last seven years).

Completely ignoring the processors, I would go Asus just on quality. My family has the immediate predecessor to the Satellite you are looking at. It's isn't much of a machine, particularly the hard drive. I have worked on three low end Satellite machines for a variety of reasons, two because of the hard drives.

I guess I'm just not a fan, though I hear that the higher end Toshiba machines are better.

Yes, a sub $400 laptop is not going to have any high quality components or premium features. But bassed off of both mine and gbryan's findings is that over the last 2-3 years toshiba's quality has not been that good; hence the $400 ASUS laptop would be more likely to not give him any problems. Four years ago I would tell clients that Dell and Toshiba where the best brands for the money because they were the brands that would rarely have hardware issues.

Also do keep in mind that I will also be using Sony Vegas Pro too. So that's why I asked cause all websites thart compare these 2 processors intel I3 comes out best.

Even when the GPU is UMA graphics and not ATI/Nvidia?

I am sure there are several games that in real world tests the a6 will perform better then the uma graphics of the I3, but for anything using the cpu and not gpu the I3 will do better. Video editing is more cpu intensive, not gpu.

Wait the I3 runs at 1.8ghz while the A6 runs at 2.7ghz w/turbocore up to 3.2ghz. So wouldn't the A6 do better? They are both dual core processors

I've had my Toshiba satellite for 6 years now and the most repair I've had on it is change my broken screen. I don't know much about asus but from checking around, Toshiba is still it.
